We are delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Sheena Eapen as the new Principal of CSI College for Advanced Studies, Punnakkad. The College Manager, Rt Rev. Dr. Malayil Sabu Koshy Cherian (Bishop, CSI Madhya Kerala Diocese) officially handed over the responsibilities.
Dr. Sheena Eapen brings a distinguished academic background and a wealth of experience in higher education. She earned her Ph.D. in Hindi from M.G. University, Kottayam, in 2002. Recently, she served as a Visiting Faculty at the School of Language & Literature, Goa University, for the academic year 2022-2023.
Dr. Sheena Eapen’s academic career began in 1987 when she joined St. Thomas College, Kozhencherry, Pathanamthitta, Kerala, as a Lecturer in Hindi. She retired from the same institution in 2018 as an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Hindi, amassing 31 years of teaching experience in higher education.
In addition to her teaching career Dr. Sheena Eapen has made significant contributions as a Research Guide. She received her guideship from Mahatma Gandhi University in 2008 and has guided research scholars at Catholicate College, Pathanamthitta, until 2021, producing three Ph.D. scholars.
Dr. Sheena Eapen is a renowned Resource Person, frequently invited to International, National, and Regional seminars and workshops related to Hindi language and literature, as well as Women's Studies. She has published seven books and has translated and edited several others.
Her exceptional work has earned her numerous awards and recognitions, including:
- Best Research Work in 2010 by Hindi Sahitya Academy, TVM, Kerala
- Abhaya Dev Smaraka Bhasha Samanvay Puraskar in 2016 by Bhasha Samanvaya Vedi, Kozhikode
- Akka Mahadevi Puraskar in 2019 by All India Poetess Conference
Dr. Sheena Eapen has also held several prestigious positions:
- President of YWCA, Kozhencherry, 2022-2023
- Member of the screening committee for promotions in colleges under MG University since 2023
- Chairperson of UG exam board, 2014-2018
- Camp Director of MGU centralized valuation camp, 2016-2017
- Director, Centre for Women’s Studies, St. Thomas College, 2008-2017
- Director of the Brains Trust, St. Thomas College, 2010-2013
- Convenor of National, International, and Regional seminars
