Department Food technology and Quality Assurance

The department offers an undergraduate program on Food Technology and Quality assurance which aims at equipping the students to meet the academic as well as professional excellence
in food technology and allied subjects. The course curriculum is also constructed with a job-oriented training program.

Highlights of the department
The department has well-equipped laboratories of Food chemistry, Food microbiology and Zoology as well as ICT enabled classrooms. The students are also given opportunities for getting industrial exposure through frequent visits and research involvements through industry-based projects.

Activities of the department beyond syllabus

-Science club: The science club conducts regular programs on food science and safety matters, seminars, quiz competitions in connection with National Science day, World food safety day, National nutrition week, World food day and National milk day.

-Certification courses: Water quality testing; microbial analysis of food products, cake and chocolate making  Industrial visits: In order to provide scientific exposure, the students are taken for regular visits to various national research institutes across the country. 

-Collaboration with industries and research laboratories: The college plans to get collaboration MoUs with various national and international institutes in near future to provide the student community an opportunity for internship that benefit their career development.

-Communication skill development: Communication is a fundamental part of delivering information effectively. Accordingly, the college provides a communication skill development program that enable the student to attain his/her needs of communication.

Scope of Food Technology & Quality Assurance

The Food Technology and Quality assurance provides an understanding of the science of food technology together with an in-depth knowledge of food quality assurance. The course also aims to enable the student to acquire the scientific, professional and technical skills for teaching, research and/ or executive career in the food science related institutions or colleges and/or industries. After successful completion of the course, the graduates will have enormous opportunities as food quality control managers, food technologists, food microbiologist, food chemists, food inspectors, entrepreneur etc. in leading companies and organisations of India and abroad.
