The legacy of the management of the college in higher education traces back to the formation of the First College in South India, CMS College, Kottayam (Autonomous), and the contribution of its faculty, viz, Rev Benjamin Baily, Rev. Joseph Peet, and Rev Richard Collins, towards the development of the Malayalam language and literature during the 19th Century.
